Eric Gravel developed the storyline first about commuters, who take long distance trains every day for going to work. He wanted to make a social film about the reality of many real people, but not a drama, so he made it as an action thriller, in order to show the stress and hectic rhythm of contemporary urban worker.
This mix of typical social drama theme and the action thriller execution makes it a very original film, a unique a powerful cinematic experience.
Eric Gravel mentioned that he makes movies because he has many unanswered questions, and his movies are a bit like mirrors for the audience. This movie raises the question of the individuals stuck in the socioeconomic system which crushes the people who are in it, like a sociopath. The individuals are in competition and yet still help each others, almost constantly on the verge of their breaking point.
Filming was just after covid lockdowns: ironically Paris was very peaceful, not the usual frenetic city that it normally is. So the crew struggled to find times and places with, for example, traffic jams for showing the usual agitation that was needed for the storyline.
