Is every day enough? - Shreya Humnabadkar (1)
A young woman in daily life, consuming and generating pollution despite appearing conscious and helpful, somehow living in her dream world. A compassionate "guardian angel" wonders how to solve the problem but ends up desperate and cries.
Original script, poetic, maybe a reference to "Wings of Desire" by Win Wenders? Questioning the impact of "Green washing" vs. consciousness. Not perfect technically, but OK. I found it very touching.
Follower - DHANISH AHMMED AK (2)
On a beach a woman throws junk, a man follows her and grabs it, setting a path for "followers". One person sets a trend but others who follow always have a choice, even though they may move on the same path. The follower who picked up trash then set a new trend and those who followed him did not throw trash. Good cinematography and editing. No script in words, but a strong script in terms of images, note the symbolic detail of only one line of footprints. We appreciated the positive and symbolic message, this film calls out to us to fearlessly disagree.
When will your greed end? - Joslin Mariam John (3)
A young woman happy on a pristine beach, then a wake up call and she realises that pollution is everywhere.
We appreciated the simplicity of the story line, the acting full of emotions and the good cinematography.
Blame - SHAHUL & TEAM (mention 1)
Today, 2 parallel stories of a man and a woman careless about plastic waste. 5 years later the 2 characters wander in the dying world.
Nice technically and good story telling, quite similar as other movies. Interesting reference to "2001" wrt. evolution (the monkey scene). It would have deserved a more subtle treatment.
Choke - Aritrya Sanyal (mention 2)
A day in the life of a careless student, presented a bit like a documentary with time. At night he has a nightmare and supposedly realises that he should do something about his habbits. So the next day he uses a recyclable bag instead of the plastic one.
Good presentation technically: story line, cinematography, editing, etc, with a touch of humour. But the message at the end is a bit weak.
I can't breathe - Akhil Rajendran
A man lies in a dumping hole, gets lots a plastic trash, raises a hand for help. Opens and closes on a face covered with a plastic bag.
Symbolic and original, visually interesting.
Smoking kills (repercussion) - Muhammed Sanas ET
A smoker throws a water bottle, which strikes back, on "Beat it" sound track. Then he trips out in a psychotic sequence.
Interesting and well done, but not so clear message.
RRR - ABDUL JABBAR KA
First part with a guy dumping trash, which is thrown back at him. Second part with a woman showing consumer eco-conscious practices.
Uneven.
Documentaries
Is it too late? - PRITHWI RAJ CHOUHAN SARBJIT KUMAR
Series of interviews with scientists working in the "green energy" field.
Focuses almost only on finding solutions for "sustainable development".
Beetales - Vighnesh GUKHOOL
Documentary on the decline of population of honey bees. Well documented, but too much promotional for a Czech company.
The end also quite defeats the purpose, as it sounds like a promotion of the bee-keepers.
